Southern Cross Ranks and Responsibilities
This post is to outline the roles and responsibilities of each of the ranks within the guild, so everyone is certain as to what is expected of them and what each rank means.
Recruiting is something we encourage all members of the guild to take part in, it's not something for just the leadership to do, as we all meet different people in our gaming experience.
Leader:
Raid Coordinator, Raid Admin, Website Owner/Admin, Recruiting
Final say on all disputes where the council is undecided.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee council and lower ranks to ensure they're fulfilling their responsibilities.
- All council roles and responsibilities.
- Required: Must be an active member.
Council:
Tradeskill Guru, Bank Admin, Raid Admin, Web Admin, Raid Strategist, Recruiting
Council deal with the day-to-day running of the guild, organise and oversee raids they are responsible for, raid makeup and loot distribution. Manage disputes amongst guild members. Listen to and address any concerns or issues from guild members.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the guild bank: removes low value items and sells them for cash, passes out masters and other desirable objects in guild bank 1 as needed, documents monies owed by senior members and higher in good standing to the guild.
- Guild recruiting: Promote/Invite/Remove recruits who pass our entrance requirements and have met the terms of membership or have failed it.
- Forum moderation: make sure that nothing inappropriate is posted (i.e. flames. etc.) and take appropriate actions in handling threads with content that is not deemed acceptable.
- Raiding: Assist in scheduling and running raids and coordinate raid loot distribution during raids, advising where necessary if something is particularly appropriate for one particular class.
- Membership: inviting alts, promoting and documenting rank changes in any member based on the criteria established for the rank.
- Making sure alts have a comment in the officer notes as to whose alt they are. Represent the guild as a whole, and handle any complaints about SC members from external folks. Ensure the happiness of all guild members.
- Required: Must be an active member.
Includes any alt belonging to the ranks of Leader or Council.
Champion:
Recruiting
This is the rank for active raiders.
Responsibilities:
- Same responsibilities as a member unless otherwise noted.
- All raiders are expected to check our forums regularly, and sign up in advance if they wish to attend raids.
- Able to access guild bank 2, which only holds items for raiders to use during raids.
- Required: Must be an active raider.
Member:
Recruiting
This is the standard rank for guild members.
Responsibilities:
- All members are expected to respect their fellow players (both in and out of the guild), to abide by DBG's EULA and play nice policies, and to ensure their behaviour keeps Southern Cross' reputation clean.
- All members are expected to check our forums regularly, and if they wish to raid post in the relevant nomination thread.
- Able to access guild banks 3 & 4.
- Required: Successfully complete the recruitment phase.
Alternate:
Any alt belonging to the ranks of Champion or Member.
Recruit:
A potential member and their alts during their trial period with the guild.
They are expected to have properly followed our application procedure by posting an application, reading our rules, and abiding by our guild charter.
If during their 30 day trial period it becomes obvious that they do not fit well with the guild they will be removed. If they are inactive during their 30 day trial period without posting their intended absence they may be removed or allowed an additional 30 day trial period at the discretion of the leadership.
Southern Cross is continuing to grow strongly in player numbers. Thank you to all the members and the leadership that have made this happen. We will be working hard to ensure we continue to expand our membership base and have a fun experience for all. If you are in game and not sure who is a leader or council member, simply open your guild tool (U) and hover your mouse over the icons to the left of their name to see their rank! More details of the ranks can also be found on the 'ranks' tab of the guild tool.
